Reproduction Red Bakelite Pencil SharpenerReproduction, more like still in production, DUX red pencil sharpener. The company had been producing these, unchanged since the 1920's. The material is still Bakelite, but it is higher quality than most period items. The red is a bit of a marbled look with dark specks throughout. Some variation on the markings on the sharpener inside. We also have these in green and black as well as two hole versions in our Office Supply Section.

Set screws are poor quality and are sometimes powdercoated on the exposed threads. Leads to striped hex sockets and inability to tighten properly. Durable finish as evidenced by no visible damage after throwing parts across the shop in frustration. Ended up running self tapping screws thru parts to complete assembly.
