I bought this book for my daughter's 8th birthday. She reads on a mid-third grade level and I needed some chapter books that would hold her interest. My 8 year old son is having a lot of fun with this book. It has a good balance of illustration and text. He has struggled to read and is considered average for his age. We have tried to get him interested in a series and have purchased many other books. Since reading Haunted library #1 he has requested the next book in the series. He also likes the Yeti files and is waiting on pins and needles for the next in that series to be released. It is such a relief to finally get him excited about reading!
